THE NEATE SWIM SCHOOL

Jenny & Ron opened the swim school in 1996. Jenny has been teaching swimming and lifesaving for over 50 years and realised that children couldn’t learn to swim in cold weather or cold water.
After a very short time, it was obvious that the need was there for all types of lessons, especially the infant aquatic program. All our grandchildren have been introduced to the water from 8 weeks old. It is then a natural progression between the activities on land and in water. The water is heated to 34 degrees all year round which also allows the pool to be used for hydrotherapy.

Infant aquatic lessons

Our Infant Aquatic lessons are held at 10.30am every day Monday – Saturday. This is a fun and educational session for you and your baby/toddler in our 34 degree water. Sing songs, play water based games while building confidence and water skills. Bookings are essential. All babies attending need to wear an aquanappy, but not the disposable ones. They are reusable, and can be purchased from our office.
Remember, swimming is a skill for life and it’s never too early to start the awareness and skills needed for a safer aquatic experience.

Adult swimming lessons

We offer evening lesson times for adults who would like to learn to swim in a private environment. Not being able to swim is nothing to be embarrassed about. It is a skill for life which is never too late to learn. We offer both private or group lessons in a quiet and friendly environment. If you would like to enjoy water activities more confidently, please contact our office today.

Squads

Squad training is available Wednesdays at 4.00pm.  We have various levels and focus on endurance and stroke correction. All strokes must be performed competently here before advancing to The Goulburn Aquatic Centre, which is held there on a Tuesday & Thursday evening with one of our qualified coaches. This squad is a great preparation for carnivals and aquatic events.

Hydrotherapy

There are 3 hours per day set aside for people needing to do their own hydrotherapy for a medical reason. A letter must be obtained from a doctor or physio etc. stating the problems. Gently hydro exercises are also offered on Tuesday evenings at 7pm for 1 hour. Bookings are essential.

Lesson pricing

The lessons are priced according to the number of children in the groups. See the price list sheet for details. All lessons are exempt from GST because they contain lifesaving skills. All strokes are taught, however, it is preferable that all children remain at the swim school until they are able to swim 50 metres of freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke and 30 metres of butterfly. Dives and tumble turns are also taught. When children have “outgrown” our pool, we have coaching sessions they can attend to continue their skills. Bookings are essential for all of these sessions.

Lesson times

Swimming lessons are conducted each morning from 9am to 12 noon, and each afternoon from 3pm to 7pm Monday to Friday. Saturday lessons are held from 9am to 1pm. All lessons are of ½ hr duration. During these times, there is a mixture of private and group lessons. All our instructors are Austswim qualified and work under the guidance of Jenny. Parents are encouraged to stay and watch their children. Lifesaving or “Swim Safer” week is held one week every term, with children wearing clothes as well as swimwear, to feel the difference. The “Swim Safer” week is aimed at making your child Safe”r” in, on and around the water.
